In 2021, April Jefferson and I wanted to explore how the power of invitation and creativity — which we often saw in Open Space gatherings — could show up in everyday life and spark transformation. We put out our invitation and began interviewing people online. We spoke with over 50 individuals across multiple countries and curated several stories from each person.
That curration process included refining the non-linear telling of the story into a linear format, gathering the stories into common themes or spaces, and then pulling together a selection of those stories into one over-arching theme.
We then asked April’s friend, Ashanti Gardner, to help us illustrate these themes just as she’s helped illustrate the conversations and themes in live Open Space gatherings.
With that careful curration, I look forward to seeing this first collection of stories being released as the new book:
The Way Through: Real Stories of Courage, Connection and Change from Around the World
Coming in early 2026
